It's been a while since I last listened to the baby's heartbeat at home. Philip had some concerns that listening to the ultrasound doppler too much will affect the baby, so I stopped using it for the last 2 weeks or so. But since Dr. Cowart had already confirmed it's safe, I thought it should be ok to listen to the baby once in a while. So just now I lied on bed and just as I put the doppler on my tummy, there it was, a strong beating. It was so easy to find the baby now. I timed it and it measured 25/10secs, so about 150 per minutes. Has slowed down somewhat, because it used to be in the 170s but I guess it's normal because as baby is growing bigger his/her heartbeats slow down a little bit.

I am going to return the doppler next week so I'll probably listen to it a few more times before then.

This morning I did our tax for year 2005. It's getting easier and faster each year to prepare it. I am glad we don't owe IRS anything

Tomorrow morning is Rainbow preschool's registration date for existing students. Usually parents are pretty crazy, waiting in line by 7am. I will just go in the regular time I drop off Timothy and do my number then. I think it will be at least an hour of waiting so I should remember to bring a book to kill time. I hope to register Timothy into Ms. Phyllis' class as Jacob loved her and it's Monday ~ Thursday so Timothy won't be bored at home and I can take the time to rest some and care for the baby.

Cherie took Henna to our house this afternoon and the boys had fun playing with Henna. We haven't been playing for a while(almost 2-3 weeks) because of Tirzah's dental operation and trying to avoid the kids passing sickness to each other. The kids always love to play together. Maybe we can all go to Home Depot this Saturday for some craft fun. (I hope it's not hammering nails because I think I will nail on my own hand!! )

Philip is at school tonight, the boys miss him and I do too. It's so quiet here now the boys are in bed. I guess I'd better enjoy this quietness because when the baby comes, it will be CONSTANT work and crying.

Happy New Year to Everyone!!

Although in the US there is really not any atmosphere for the Chinese New Year, but we told the boys it's Dog year and we gave them red envelops and they were happy!! They even kneeled down to give us a Big 拜年 which of course made us very happy. I got to talk to my dad and A-Yi and uncle and alex on their Chinese new year eve. I was very happy to talk to my daddy after a whole month! Wish him and everyone a wonderful new year to come, that they will all be healthy, happy and prosper!

This morning at 1:30am our dear brother David Shen passed away to be with the Lord. It's almost 2 years since he discovered lung cancer.  I pray the Lord will strengthen our sister and her 2 sons. Mom and I went over to see Li Ling but she was resting so we didn't get to talk to her. May the Lord be her real comfort and hiding place in this difficult time.

It was good to "chat" with Dad via Skype messaging this morning, we got to talk some after a long time. I felt very very good being able to talk to dad. Although we have different views of life, we still love one another dearly. I understand his points of view... out of love for me, and I appreciate that.

The boys are super good today. They did their homework very quickly, and ate dinner well. After listening to the story CD I will send them to bed early today... maybe at 7:45pm. Becuase Jacob has to get up at night several times to go potty, he is lacking sleep. So I am trying to give them more sleep time.

Philip is taking class tonight as well as last night, so tired. I can't imaging having to go to a class until 10pm after a long day of work.

I am doing fine. Having been feeling the baby's movements a little since last week. They are very light flutterings but I know it's the baby because I am experienced! Got some prefolds (cloth diaper) in the mail today.. and am starting to get excited. Baby's stuff are getting together slowly while the baby is growing up each day in my tummy!

Cleaned my closet today... which is VERY unusual. Now the bathroom and closet both look and smell good! It's so tiring to be a housewife, I am sure not many people know this.

Boys are in bed already (7:35pm)!!

Oh I fell in love with Kiwi and strawberry. That's pertty much my lunch now a days. A big bowl of cut up strawberries & kiwi(yesterday with caramel sauce and today with brown sugar!!) So yummy !

Jacob performed in a music program for MST 1st graders and kindergarteners. We all went last night to see Jacob sing with his classmates. They 2 songs, itsy bitsy spider & little teapot. Jacob did very well, singing and moving shylessly. All the parents were excited to see their little ones standing on the stage.  Grandma, me and 2 boys arrived there first and right before the PTA meeting started, daddy made it. Daddy had to buy a chicken sandwitch to eat on the way from work to MST. I am glad we have such a supporting daddy who makes all the events of his kids.

I went in for my 2nd OB visit this morning. I had to wait a long time before seeing brother Mike. I was surprised I lost 3 pounds since last month's visit. I think it's because I didn't eat any more then I was before pregnant and yoga certainly helps.  Mike measured me and he said the baby is growing great, at the right measurement. My uterus measures 12 cms which is exactly 12 weeks. He found the baby's heartbeat immediately, so experienced. Since I've heard it several times at home, I wasn't too excited but still happy to heat that strong heatbeat of my baby. I asked Mike several questions, and he said those were EASY questions for him OK next time I will have to come up with a lot more complex questions!!  I asked him about AFP test, and he said now they do "Quad" test which is a lot more accurate then AFP(triple test) so the result should come back more correctly. Quad is done around the same time as my ultrasound, which according to the nurse will be around the 1st of March. I can hardly wait!! Mike said we will be able to find out the sex of the baby then!! I also asked about baby doppler, he said it's perfectly safe to use it because clinics have been using it since th 70s and not 1 report about it being harmful to the baby has been issued. I am relieved. He also said his nurses when they were pregnant they would listen to the heartbeats a lot in his office.

I've been looking into cloth diapers recently and have started to buy some. I am excited about usig cloth diapers this time because it is definitely better for the baby's health and it's cheaper(supposedly then disposables) and of course very good to the environment. A disposable diaper takes 1000 years to fully be absorbed by the soil. Hard to imagine!! I've been buying some cloth diapers from ebay and a website where moms exchange or sell cloth diapers. I was amazed the resale value of used cloth diapers are very high, which means if I maintain them well, I will be able to get most of my investment money back.. YAHOO! I only wish I'd look into cloth diaper with my 2 boys. I guess they weren't so popular at that time. I am sure it will mean a lot more work,  but since I will stay home with the baby, I think it's not a problem.

I also got a haircut today at Mimi's by Judy. I really like it. Judy trimmed a lot of my hair down and now it's shoulder length. Much easier to take care and looks cuter. I kind of miss my long hair but for now it's great!! Timothy went with me and sat there nicely the whole time, what a good boy I have! And after haircut we went to Asia's world to buy some grocery. And we ran into Eric Fu and his wife!! Wow!! Philip's OLD roommate(1991-1993?) in Denton. They still live in Denton, and their boy is already in 6th grade. Eric looks a little older now, but his wife looks the same. I told them we are expecting the 3rd and he said "wow you look the same just like 10+ years ago and now you are going to have 3 kids" !!! Of course I was in the clouds hearing that comment!! Recently Philip's been telling me I look like I am 18 years old, well, at least in his heart. So sweet!! I don't mind getting older, since my kids are growing bigger each day, but it's always nice to hear people say you look younger than your age. HAHA.

Better go cook now. My boys will be hungry VERY soon!!

On Sunday Jacob turned 6 years old. I can't believe he is so big already. He also decided he is big enough to go to sleep without the training pants. Me and Philip have been taking turns waking him up at night to go potty, and until today it's been successful. Jacob does very well, I just need to tap on him and he is up immediately from sleep to go to the restroom. I am very proud of him willing to try to be night trained. Because he is a very deep sleeper, it was hard for him to get up and go potty when he was younger. Hopefully very soon we won't need to help him get up at all. But it's a great beginning.

We didn't do much to celebrate, because we want to keep it a family matter. We went to La Madiline to buy 2 fruit tarts, and 1 tarimasu for me, but when we got home, Jacob was only interested in MY Tarimasu. Since he was the birthday star, daddy said he could choose anything he wanted... so I missed my favorite, but we got to lit the candles and sang happy birthday to our big boy. He was happy, singing "happy birthday to ME" all along.

Jacob also got to talk to 公公 on the phone. He has been telling me when he goes back to Taiwan next time, he wants to go ride the motorcycle with
公公 to eat the yummy 粽子。 I miss all the foods in Taiwan. Although we won't be able to go back this year, hopefully next year will come soon. And we will bring the baby along.

Philip started UTD classes last week, and on every Tuesday and Wednesday he gets home late, and the boys won't be able to see daddy before bed. Although I kind of feel lonely and wish he could be home more, I realize it's a great benefit from the company and he should take advantage of it, getting FREE MBA degree. He already finished about 1/3 of the classes, and it won't be long before the other 2/3 is finished. I think he will break the world records, having 4 masters' degrees!!! The more the better of course, in today's cruel corporate America.

Tomorrow night Jacob will sing in a music program of MST kindergarten & 1st graders. I can't wait to see him perform!

This morning I went for my yoga class, and I am beginning to like the teacher. She is not fast-paced as I was used to, but she has a good flow of the movements and once I get used to her it will be good.

Our whole tank of fish are sick with white spots, which according to the petstore person is called "ich". It can be caused by sudden temperature changes or other factors. I bought the solution to put into the water and turned on the heater, hopefully it will help the fish heal. One fish didn't make it...

Today I am 11 weeks and 3 days pregnant. The 1st trimester is almost over, and I will enter into the most comfortable period of my pregnancy. I received the baby doppler on Monday and I've been listening to the baby's heartbeats everyday.... I showed it to the boys, Philip and my mom, all of them were very excited to hear the baby's heart beating so strongly. It is a wonderful device, making me feel so much better because I can't feel the baby's movements yet. I think i've been feeling some flutterings, but I am not sure if it's the baby because it's still so early. I plan to rent the doppler until maybe 16 weeks when I start to feel the movements regularly.
The baby's heartbeats have been high... about 178 per minute. It's a great sound to hear to, I have to restrict myself not listening to it too much.

It's a long wait until we can find out the baby's gender. I am used to thinking the baby is a boy for some reason. We are thinking about changing the boys' room to another one(the guestroom) so the baby can be in their room... but I told Philip the baby will probably be 1 or 2 before he moves out of my bed into his own room, so really no need to hurry.

This week one day I forgot the time and picked up Jacob late. He was crying, I felt SO bad.. He went inside to Big Springs to go potty, and after he came out he still didn't see my van, he started to worry. Gladly there was a lady who was with him, she is a volunteer to help the kids cross the streets. I felt so sorry to see my big boys in tears. I totally understand the feeling. When I was in grade school I remember having to wait forever for my mom to pick me up, after all the kids were gone, it's so scary and lonely. I promised Jacob I will try to never be late again. Now I make sure I leave the house at 3:15pm and I'd rather wait for him then having him be scared. I've been trying to take them either for a bike ride or playground after we got home these past few days. The weather has been wonderful, and I don't want to the boys to stick in our house for so long. Fresh air and exercise are good for them... and me! Yesterday we went to Crowley park, the other side where the big kids playground is. They had a great time, didn't want to leave after 30 minutes of play, and were so dusty from playing. We came back home and I gave them a bath, and they felt so relaxed but I still had to give them their homework time.

I went in for Jacob's report with Mrs. Huggins on Wednesday morning. I was so proud to hear that Jacob is doing great in school. His math is excellent, got 95 in the test(he missed only 1 question which his teacher said everyone missed because the question was poorly written). His behavior is also excllent. Mrs. Huggins said Jacob is one of her favorite students, always listening carefully, helping out and knowing what to do at the right time. I really can't complain. I know Jacob is a wonderful child. I can only praise the Lord for making him such a good nature. I pray the Lord will always keep him this way, and that he will grow up to be a useful vessel for the Lord's building.

Timothy is also doing great, both at school and at home. He accompies me to yoga class and when we are home alone, he is very quiet. I know he misses Jacob's accompaniment and everyday when Jacob gets home from school Timothy is full of energy again. I am so glad they have each other as the best playmate. Thank you Lord for giving them each other.

Next Friday I will go in for my 2nd OB appointment. Can't wait ! Hopefully I will be able to schedule my ultrasound then for probably late Feb or early March.

Today Jacob took the school bus home for the very 1st time!! I am SO proud of my big boy!!
Me and Timothy went to pick him up at around 2:20pm, and we only had to wait for about 8 minutes then we saw the school bus from MST... I was SO excited!! I saw my big boy jumping out of the bus and the driver(Mr. Jim) waved goodbye to Jacob. My boy had a good experience today I could tell. He has 4 classmates that ride the same bus: Daven, Logan, Christian, & Russell. Logan and Christian are his best friends. So I am very happy for him he gets to ride the bus with friends he likes. Big Spring elementary school is the last stop for this bus and about 5-6 kids were dropped off here. It was so much easier. I only had to leave home a few minutes before the bus arrives, hooray I no longer have to spend 1 hour picking up Jacob at MST!! Way to go Jacob!!

This morning I went to my yoga class... a new teacher(DeeDee). I don't really like her teaching style, I don't think she is as good as my previous teachers.. but oh well, I don't want to spend money attending fee-based classes. So this class will do. I will still go on Tuesdays & Thursdays. Luckily Timothy alwasy does very well waiting for me in the child center. He usually watches a video, and plays on the computer some. Sometimes he will go out to the playset.

We went to Cherie's house after we picked up Jacob from Big Springs. The boys and the girls had a good time playing. Timothy was tired I guess he was mad constantly. He was really bored this morning because Jacob started school today. I think he was so used to Jacob being home with him for the winter break. Timothy starts school tomorrow. I am sure he will enjoy school.

Happy new year to everyone!
2006 is here. Hard to believe.

This year we will have a new baby joining our family. The due date is 8/1. The boys are excited about the baby and can't wait until that day to hold their baby. I am doing better these days, very slight nausea, but last night was very bad for me. After we ate dinner with grandma & Jimmy at 廣東飯店, I felt so bad afterwards when we got home. I started to have stomache ache, and 拉肚子. I don't think it was the food because they all seemed to be pretty fresh, and I was the only one having the problem. I did eat a lot of fried shrimp. I think my body is not used to the oily cooking and probably seafood was not what I should have eaten. Later at night I started to vomit, but after that I felt a lot better with en empty stomache. This happened to me before when I was pregnant with Jacob. Some saints invited us for dinner and I drank some very fresh and yummy fish soup, and after I got home, the exact same situation. Maybe from now on for the rest of my pregnancy I will avoid seafood all together.

This morning I attended the video traning at the meeting hall. The topic of the training is "The Building of God". Brother Ron Kangas spoke a very sober and clear word. We were all very much reminded that we need to have the same heart God has. In this entire universe God only desires one thing, which is to build His eternal habitation, a mingling of the divinity with humanity. What a great way to start the new year, to be able to know God's heart desire. May the Lord strengthen each one of us, that this year will be a year of loving Him, and being built up together for His building.

Still not feeling too well, but it's very mild now. Philip said the Lord was reminding me I should watch what I eat, which is true. now I have a baby inside my body, I need to be very careful what goes inside my mouth so the baby will get all the nutrients he/she needs. Everyone assumes we are hoping for a girl. I guess in my heart I still do, but I've come to the conclusion I don't care either way, as long as the baby is healthy. I believe the Lord gives us what we need, so His arrangement is the best. May the Lord keep this baby healthy and safe.

Tomorrow Jacob starts school again. I am thinking to let him ride the bus home after school. Although I want to pick him up very much, but it's taking up a lot of time and energy for me. I usually have to wait there for about 40 minutes, then we have to wait for Patric and Tristan to get out. It's about 1 hour sitting there in the car. It's very tiring sometimes, and I don't think being pregnant or even when the baby is born we can do that. So starting tomorrow Jacob will try to take the bus(Red Circle) to Big Springs and I will pick him up there. It will take him longer to take the bus, probably 30 minutes instead of 10 minutes to get home. But we will try anyway and see how it goes. May the Lord protect Jacob on the bus that he will feel happy and safe, not being bullied by some naughty kids.

So it's the end of our holidays, and everything goes back to normal starting tomorrow. A new start for all of us.
