Lately I've been trying to type my blog in Chinese... to practice Chinese typing... but... it's kind of late now and I have so much to talk about ... much easier and faster for me to write in English... so sorry Grandpa, you will have to read your daughter's English again :D

The boys had Monday and Tuesday off from school, and daddy had business trip on these 2 days... so we decided to tag along... On Saturday we left our house at around 9am.. heading to Houston. This trip the most important place we wanted to visit was ---> Houston NASA Space Center(太空總署).
http://www.nasa.gov/astronauts/
The boys have been reading about space, space shuttle for a while, and they were super excited that they would get to see a space shuttle in person!

We arrived safely at Houston around 1pm... and headed toward Chinese restaurant directly... we heard 山東麵館's food is yummy, so we decided to go there. We bought 珍珠丸子,包子 to take with us.. .. then we drove a little down south, about 30 more minutes, and arrived at our 1st hotel... Since it was free stay using the Marriot points we had, we didn't expect it to be too high-end... but it turned out to be ok. We loved the little kitchen we had, so we could heat up foods. It's almost 4pm but we still wanted to check out NASA space center before it closed for the day. And WOW... the playground is HUGE... my boys were very excited and Timothy LOVED the playground...

We purchased NASA membership because we wanted to come back again sometime within the year.

After NASA our tired daddy decided to take us to Galveston.. to take the ferry. It was wonderful on the ferry, we enjoyed the bay view and even saw dolphins swimming along side.. it was very cool !!

It was so much fun already, for the 1st day of our vacation.

  • Jacob went to his 2nd swimming class... and he did VERY well. Daddy said he is probably one of the best swimmers now in the class... WOW!! When he got there, he swam 3 laps non-stop..(back floats), then Coach Kim taught him how to add arms into the float... and he did several laps... until he felt he needed to go pee-pee, he told Coach and coach said no. So POOR Jacob had to continue swimming... Daddy told the coach please tell Jacob it's ok to go pee-pee, the coach was very happy to see that Jacob feared him... Jacob swam about 10 laps total this week... well done!!

  • The boys are having a good time at school. Timothy said "媽媽,Kindergarten 比 Rainbow preschool ㄉ好玩多ㄌ!! " .... He is learning colors this week, which is way too easy for him. But that's ok. At least he likes it still.  Jacob's teacher is new to MST, and hopefully she will be a lot of fun for the kids. Both boys enjoy school lunch very much. Timothy LOVES to take the school bus home... And I still miss them during the day... Acacia keeps me busy though.

Today is the first day we got back home. It's very funny, but I forgot a lot of things around the house. I couldn't even find the rice cooker when I prepared dinner(well, Philip hid it well). Acacia totally forgot our house. She feels very strange sitting on our high bed, and she didn't know yet how to get down the bed. She would cry very loudly, asking for rescue.

Today Philip took a sick day off from work, as we all needed much sleep, and I needed help around the house. We went to Costco for some grocery shopping, and in the afternoon I slept for about 5 hours. Right now it's almost midnight and I am right awake!! I told everyone we shouldn't take long naps, but I myself was the one to break the rule.

Acacia and Timothy seemed to adjust to jetlag very well. They slept normal hours last night, while Jacob woke up at 4am this morning and refused to go back to sleep, so he was very tired and had to take an afternoon nap. Daddy took T for a walk around the neighborhood while the 3 of us snoozed...

It's the first time in 2+ months that I had to cook dinner. It wasn't too bad because I prepared simple foods. I made marinated grilled chicken, steamed 2 vegetables(and poured some YUMMY goose oil), and made 菜脯蛋... which was very yummy. Thank you 阿姨 for buying the
菜脯 for me in the market.

It's been a long time since Philip ate my homecook food. I am sure he is happy now his family are back home. His lonely days finally came to an end.

We all miss 公公, 阿媽 very much. I think I want to go back next year... so we better start saving money now !!

After 24 long hours of travelling, we came back home to Texas. It was very tiring, but the boys behaved very very well. They took care of themselves on the flights, took naps, and even watched Acacia when I needed to use the restroom.

As expected, it was hard to say goodbye to 公公, I tried to hold back my tears and it was still heart breaking. After 2+ months of spending each day together, the kids all got very close to 公公 & 阿媽. They took very good care of us, 謝謝

Everyone put on weight, the most obvious being Acacia.
阿媽 fed her very well, everyday she had fresh fish to eat. I was able to rest for 2 whole months, not having to cook or do houseworks. It was very relaxing for me. Now we are back I have to pick up all the housewife work again :D

The boys have been to school for a week (or 2?) now.. and they seem to like it. At least they LOVE the part that we ride the mortocycle to and back from school. They take turns standing in the front and that's a great motivation to get them out of the bed in the morning.

to be continued...

This morning Philip flew back to Texas... in fact he is still on the plane... 6 more hours to go!!! This means our Taiwan vacation has come to the half point. 4 weeks has flown by so fast... I really enjoyed the whole family being together 24 hours a day, for 4 weeks. I knew vacation always goes by quickly... but it still upsets me.Lots of things happened during these past 4 weeks.

We went to 花蓮 with my dad & A-Yi, we had a fun 4 day vacation there. Then we went to 台中 for 2 weeks to spend time with Philip's families... then we came back to my dad's 4 days ago.. and this morning at 5 am my dad took Philip to the airport. I wish this vacation was longer, and it's already come to the half point.

Acacia has grown a lot during the last 4 weeks. When we came back to Taiwan she only had 2 bottom teeth, now her upper 4 teeth already all came out, so by the time we go back to the US she will have at least 6 teeth. She will have her 1st birthday here, and I plan on buying a small cute birthday cake for her, since cakes here are MUCH yummier than the ones back home. She loves to cruise around, and she can sometimes even stands by herself for a few seconds. I guess when she turns 1 she will be walking. She is so much more responsive now, constantly shocks me how much she knows. She learnt to wave bye bye all by herself(like  a 招財貓, very cute), but usually a little late. She blows bubbles to entertain us, VERY FUNNY! She loves to sing and wiggle her body when she hears music. She climbs up and down, with no fear. And she seems to understand a lot of what we adults say, which is pretty scary to me. She lets me know she is grasping a lot of information in her brain and that I need to start teaching her stuff. No longer just a little baby!!!

The boys are sometimes bored here, asking to go back to TX. But now daddy is away, I try to let them follow a good schedule. For 2 days Timothy practiced mental math book 1. He really likes it and is very good at it, and Jacob is very proud to be his brother's little coach. Jacob also does his math homework everyday. Sometimes my dad will take them to swimming, and I try to limit their TV watching to as little as possible. I ask Timothy to draw what he experiences in the daily life. And they are learning to have good habits, like being polite, folding and putting away laundry, eating meals on time..... etc...A-ma is very good in teaching them and usually is very patient with the kids. I really appreciate how A-ma takes time to cook yummy foods for us, and help taking care of the kids for me.

Acacia takes to my dad easily. From day 1 she loves 公公 and has no problem playing with him and being held by 公公 . I guess it's because 公公  looks a lot like mommy so she feels very comfortable.

We went to 台南 today after lunch to visit my aunt and uncle. The boys loved playing at 姑婆家's community playground and we had a good time chatting at McDonald's.

I got an email from Philip that he sent while transferring flights in Narita. Just reading his email made me all teared up. I started missing him before he left the house this morning, and can't wait to see him back home in another ... maybe 40 days. Take good care of yourself, honey!!!

The kids are gradually adjusting to everything here. The sleep is much better, almost changed to Taiwan zone.. except me!! I still wake up at 2 am everyday... eyes wide open.

For the last 2 days grandpa has been taking the boys swimming, and they absolutely love it... yeah, swimming is the best thing to do in this kind of weather!! Today after everyone wakes up, we are taking the train to 花蓮 for a 4 day trip... should be fun... but kind of scared because I know it's going to be hard to travel with old folks... plus our super noisy kiddos... a very interesting mix.... we will see.

Last night the boys got a haircut... short and handsome. I like it a lot.

I had a facial treatment and it was great! I enjoyed the massage part but the deep cleaning part was not so fun... in order to get my plugged pores out, she poked and squeezed very hard... the pain almost compared to having babies....ok maybe not that bad but you get the point. I still want to have a haircut later, and having it high-lighted... maybe with blonde shades... we will see.... have to find a good hairdresser first. The one I liked closed her store...

Acacia is doing great... getting used to Grandpa and now lets grandpa hold her... haha my free time is coming soon!! Yesterday I got to go to the market for a while, bought some clothes... oh I LOVE Taiwan Market!!!

The kids did very well on the planes... When we checked in at the AA counter, I asked to get the 1st row and was promised I got it.. but when we boarded, there were already people sitting there, and on their boarding passes that's their seats.. so I was pretty pissed off... so we got the 2nd row instead... didn't know it would turn out to be the best choice for us. Besides the 5 seats we got, the left 2 seats were empty, so we got 7 seats total... for 5 people.. so it was great, when Jacob or Timothy wanted to sleep, they could lay down. It must have been the Lord's blessing

It was super long flight, and the last few hours I felt terrible, alsmot wanted to throw up... after all the tiredness. We arrived in Japan, and got on JAL, which was MUCH nicer. We only got 4 seats, but the service was so much better... let along the young and beautiful and courteous flight attendants. There was this flight attendant that I really liked, she provided super service, often checked to see if we need anything, and was just so sweet... unlike the grandmas on AA who refused to give me a cup of water and asked me to get the water myself...... hello? do you see I am holding a baby and caring for 2 children???? I thought that'sYOUR job to serve us !!! Terrible service!! I would leave no tip if it's a restaurant... ok enough complaining!

So today we have been resting at home, we all got up at 4am this morning, Acacia being the 1st to get up.. so after lunch everyone was tired, the boys took an 8 hour nap so now they are probably not gonna sleep much tonight...

Tomorrow morning we will go swimming!

Yeah, it's almost hard to believe.. but tomorrow we will be on the flight back to Taiwan... it feels unreal somehow... after all this time of waiting... I am so excited.

Of course the boys are excited too.... Timothy keeps asking me, "mommy, can we go back to Taiwan NOW?"... well, it won't be long!!! I don't know why they are so excited, I don't think they know what they are expecting to do in Taiwan, maybe just the flght part.. is exciting enough for the boys. I can't wait to show off Acacia, she is such a cutie.. I am sure everyone will fall in love with her, especially her 公公!!

Dear 阿媽 (previously 姨婆) has been cleaning the house, making everything ready... so much work!! I really appreciate it. They've just come back from China touring and must have been tired.. but they want to have the house ready for us.  :D

On another hand, I am a little sad to leave my mom here... I am sure she will be fine, but I pray the Lord will be with her always... and everything will be ok while we are away.

Philip finally cleaned up the garage, now we can park both cars inside...AMAZING!!! There sure is a lot of junk in our house that needs to be cleaned away. I promise.. I will do some cleaning after we return from Taiwan!!

The boys LOVE to swim and Timothy asks me almost everyday "can we go swimming?" but because he started coughing a few days back, I didn't want to take them swimming.. but yesterday was pretty warm so we decided to go after we picked up Jacob after school. We were pretty surprised that the outdoor pool is open and the indoor one closed. I was a little worried but the boys were excited. Timothy started practicing his swimming skills right away... I was SO proud to see him try to swim across the pool. He had to get up and change breaths but he did SO well !! And Jacob enjoyed sliding down the kids' sized slide. He turned like a whale in the water.. I was glad they really enjoyed it.

This is Jacob jumping off the slide... FUN FUN FUN!!

It felt like we were in a resort, just relaxing and enjoying the good weather. Acacia was busy eating snacks.... and looking around. I will wait while the weather is really warm to start putting Acacia in water.. so she doesn't get sick.

This is why we keep our membership with the club... it's great for kids to swim!

My brother came to visit this weekend. Alex joined a company that sent him to the US for job training.. he stayed in Philadelphia
for 2 weeks, then he transferred in Dallas(to visit us) then he heads to Portland for another 2 weeks before he returns Taiwan.

Philip went to pick him up on Friday. We were all very excited to see him, since it's been 2 years already. He sure has put on a lot of weight after he moved back to Taiwan. Except for his 4 month pregnant size tummy, I actually think he looks good with the extra pounds. We chatted until quite late Friday night, it felt great to have my little brother home again... I sure miss him. And mom was very very happy to see her son after 2 long years.

I was glad to find out Alex now takes care of himself better... he even uses skin care stuff on his face!! He at age 30 sure looks and feels like a grownup. I still picture him in my brain the little 5 year old, running around, skinny yet full of energy. I love you very much, my dear little brother!!

Living in Taipei all by himself is lonely, I pray the Lord will prepare a good companion for him.

On Saturday, Alex went out to meet with his friends for lunch... which turned into a LONG lunch so we had to cancel our dinner because he was too full from the buffet he ate. So we didn't really do much, mostly hanging out at home and just talked.

Then it's Lord's day.. we went to the meeting, Alex stayed home and relaxed, in the afternoon we quickly took Alex to get some Levi's jeans, which are pricy for me but only 1/3 of the retail price in Taiwan. We went to Cheesecake Factory for dinner, my favorite restaurant. We ordered too much again and were stuffed to our throats!!! The Godiva Chocolate cheesecake was pretty good... it's flourless and not too sweet... however I still like the tiramisu
  kind the best.

Good time always flys by... it's time for Alex to head to another city... but I am not too sad since we will meet in Taiwan soon... next month!!! I pray the Lord will be with Alex everyday... and He will be his grace and supply.
I hope mom is not too sad... and hopefully when she gets her greencard soon she can go back to Taiwan and visit Alex a lot more often. (I totally understand a mom's heart now I have 3 !!)

So it felt like it's been ages since I last update my blog... 24 hours a day is simply not enough for me to use.

US passport:
I received my US passport the other day. It felt VERY strange to hold an US passport. I guess I still feel I am a pure Taiwan citizen in my heart.

Mom's Status:
I found out there is a program called DORA which is a pilot program for people petitioning for their relatives. It's a super fast program that applications usually can be completed in 90 days.. wow.. only 3 months. So anyway, I made an appointment for today, and this morning we went to for the interview. The officier told us he thinks there should be NO problem with our case.. meaning we should be able to get mom her green card in 90 days. Wow I am impressed!! It took me a while to fill out all these annoying forms and got all the documents ready, but it sure is worth it. Mom will be here... or travel to Taiwan freely. What a big relief!! Thank the Lord everything went so smoothly.

My 3 precious ones:
Pink is for my little girl of course. She has been growing up so much in the past few weeks. She is now pulling herself up to standing and she is actually trying to cruise, Just today she crawled a few steps... I am so excited!! Maybe we will have a mobile baby very soon, I guess I will be even busier trying to chase after her. Her nasty cold and ear infection finally got cleared up... after a few days of antibiotics. Medicine sure is amazing sometimes. I am SO happy to see her face without a running nose. And she seems so much happier and she now eats a lot more. She is still quite picky.. turning up her nose when she disagrees with what I prepare for her. But she LOVES bananas, she even likes sour strawberries. She will make funny face but continue to eat strawberry.. very very funny. Acacia LOVES music, and she loves to play the piano. Whenever she hears music, she will move her body and head, VERY cute!! I think we will have to start her on piano lessons at 3 years old!!  She is SO clingy to me. Basically she is in my arms all day long. No wonder she doesn't have a chance to learn to crawl. She is in her peak of seperation anxiety. if I am 2 feet or further from her, she starts crying. She absolute refuses to be held by anyone other than me. Well, she can have daddy hold her sometimes... but not often. My left arm is so strang, I feel like it has been playing tennins all day.

Well, Green is Jacob's favorite color now.. My big boy, he is doing so well. Just got another report card back from school, as usual, he scores 4(Perfect A) for everything except his handwriting. He is a little sloppy on handwriting and we will have to work on that. He is probably the best student in his class. I am VERY proud of him. I can't believe he is such a good student. He finished book 2 on mental math last week, he is starting book 3... we don't know how long we will continue him on mental math class, but probably until he gets really tired of it. It's a good exercise for his brain. His art piece earned him a reward and was part of the display held by RISD. He himself was pretty surprised that he could get awarded for art. He never had the confidence since Timothy draws so well. Now he knows he is pretty good too!! (only about 6 or 7 students' art work were selected in his whole school!!!!) can you tell I am a very proud mama?

Orange since Timothy still favors orange. My little boy is doing very well, he is pass half of the level 5 hooked on phonics. He learns everything so fast, sometimes I don't know what to do with him. He still loves to draw, continuing to be a leader at his class. He loves to help other kids in his class. Just this afternoon his friend Nehemiah came to our house to play, I was busy with Acacia so while I was in the bedroom I heard him say "Nehemiah, do you want to have some cookies?" " no i can't" said Nehemiah(what a good boy). " then you want some oranges? They are REALLY REALLY sweet, do you know how to peel it? " said my little man. I was pretty impressed that he knows how to be a host. WOW.

On Saturday, 3/18, we decided to head to CT to spend some time with my cousin Betty and her little girl Autumn. The snow strom last night kind of worried us, and we've been watching the road condition closely. In the morning, Jeff drove away for a while(we thought he was in a hurry he didn't even have time to say goodbye!!), then he came back and told us the highway is very clean. So we took some pictures with the host and the boys got to play with the snow a little, then we were ready to leave NY and say goodbye. I felt a little sad.. it has been a WONDERFUL week with my old friend, and it felt so good to be together and just hang out. But good time is always short, we said our byes and hopefully we will meet again in Taiwan in June.

We finally got to use our rental car The highway is super clean. We got to see how the trucks clean the snow on the road, very cool!! We decided to go to Flusing 1st to get some food and the yummy tri-color cake rolls... it's Saturday so it's packed with people... although there is snow everyone on the sides of the roads, people wanted to come out of the house and do some grocery shopping I guess. We went to buy the cake rolls and some bread, then I saw a big restaurant called "旺角". It's got roast ducks and BBQ meat, just what we were looking for. We bought 1/2 duck and some BBQ meat, then we went to buy the 排骨飯... Philip realized he has the metro cards with money in there, so he called Joyce to see if she was near(she was waiting for her FIL's van to be fixed), and such a coincident, we ended up in the
排骨飯 restaurant !!! Now it's really time to say good bye.

The drive to CT was very smooth, the road condition was perfect, no snow or ice at all. The norther we go, the more snow we see. Its so beautiful, like a perfect white world. The kids took their naps in the ride, and I just enjoyed watching their sleeping faces.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

This was Timothy holding Acacia's hand in the ride... So sweet!!

Finally we reached uncle's house... It's great to see Betty and Autumn again... Autumn is so tall !! She is the sweetest girl I know. The boys had fun playing with the snow with Autumn in the yard. The we went to an elementary nearby to sled... there was 12 inches of snow last night so it was PERFECT to sled. The kids had tons of fun.. and Acacia had fun watching for a few minutes(still have a running nose so we stay in the car).
(This is uncle's yard)

Then we went to meet Aunt then we all went to eat dinner at a restaurant. I was hoping to eat Aunt's homecooking because she cooks so well, but she was too tired from cleaning the snow. We then went back to our hotel to get a nice night of rest. (Residence Inn).

The breakfast was quite nice, hot and delicious.

DAY 1

All 3 kids took turns getting sick... First it was Timothy, a few days after we got back from Irving blending meeting, Timothy started having low grade fever... I predicted it... because everytime after the blending meeting kids would get sick. Then it was Acacia, she had a super running nose... and a low grade fever as well. She is still not fully recovered as of today(3/19)... still a little damp nose. Then it was Jacob's turn... RIGHT before our spring break vacation. On Thursday night Jacob started to have fever, so it really bothered daddy and me. We were struggling with the idea of cancelling the whole trip, knowing all 3 kids were sick and the weather in North East is cold. Our plane was going to depart at 6:55 am... and we had to leave the house at 5am. So we said, we would make a final decision by 4am whether to cancel the trip or not. And we almost DID. But the boys woke up very excitedly(with a fever still), saying they were ready for the airplane ride!!! So we thought, oh well, we might as well go and not waste the money on our prepaid rental car... and maybe we would have some fun anyway.

Brother David was very nice to take us to the airport at such an early time. We carried heavy loads of luggages, since we had to have winter/ski clothes. So just imagine how hard it was... dragging 3 sick kids and tons of luggages, waiting to check in, before the sun even rose.

And the VERY VERY annoying experience to pass through security. We had to dump our water bottles, practically take out everything in our pockets, had to undress, took off shoes... having our backpacks checked... you name it.

Finally we got on the plane. Although the kids were sick they were all very good during the flight. We had a smooth and nice trip. Acacia did amazingly well. She wasn't fussy at all and slept during the 2nd half of the flight.

We dicided to head directly to NY to stay with my good-old-friend Joyce. Several reasons, the most important one being the kids' sickness.. we wanted to let them recover before we do any snow skiing. So we took the rental car and poor tired daddy had to drive to NY while we snoozed in the car. He said he also napped a few times while driving... YIKES!! And the poor navagation system... took us on a very scenic route that took a lot longer than it's supposed to be. HAHA. Well, I finally woke up before we entered NY and provided some help with the map and directions.

FINALLY, finally, we got to Joyce's house... I was a little nervous. It's been 5+ years since we saw one another. I felt like I was going on a blind date :D But what a relief to see dear Joyce. I felt right at home. And we saw uncle Jeff. So all this time we all padded on some pounds. haha. So we started our wonderful week at NY.
