Yesterday was Halloween night. I thought about going to the mall to
avoid the kids coming to our door to ask for candies. Since we are
christians we don't celebrate halloween because it's a holiday
associated with ghosts and other unholy things. But I decided we would
stay home and just treat it as a ordinary night. I told the boys with
a very serious tone that I didn't want them to go "trick or treat" for
several reasons. One being that we are children of God, the other reasons
like it would be very dangerous to knock on stranger's doors since we
didn't know who would answer the door(and the example of how a Japanese
student was killed in the 90s on a halloween day when he went to ask
for directions but was shot to death because that house owner asked the
student to freeze but the poor student didn't understand". This story
really scared the boys. I don't think they will ever want to knock on
people's houses. :0)) Another reason is that candies are BAD for their
teeth, and the boys are really good at protecting their teeth so they
decided it's a bad idea to go "trick or treat". So we printed out a
door sign which read "No candy! Sorry we don't celebrate Halloween. Have
a happy and safe night" and we taped it on the door and also covered the
bell with some paper. Amazingly NO ONE rang the bell, I was truly
surprised. I think the Lord really preserved us and made it happen.

To entertain the boys I let them play with "sand painting" using the
cute characters(hello kitty and chu chu train) sheets I bought
from a Japanese store. Both Jacob and Timothy had a great time.
And that was the end of our happy night on halloween.

Yesterday morning Timothy's class had a fall party, and Timothy was
dressed up like a Thomas the Tank Engine. I went to the party at 11:15
and all the parents participated, some brought cookies, I brought
juice boxes, and others read a story or played a game with the kids.
For some reason Timothy didn't really enjoy the party. He finally started
to smile when we walked out of the classroom with a orange ballon.

This morning I went to restorative yoga class. It was very good. We
didn't have to work hard at all, the whole point was to relax and let
all the stress in the body go. Of course there were some poses where
I had to really breath hard because trying to open the hips and
realign the spine was kind of painful to me, especially my low back.
At first I didn't like this class at all, thinking I wasted a whole
hour doing nothing. But gradually I feel the benefit of this class and
how relaxation is really important for our whole body.

Everytime when I exercise Timothy stays at the kids club patiently
awaiting me. He is such a sweet boy. He knows how important exercise
is for mommy and he is very willing to stay there for almost 2 hours.
Everytime I go in and see other kids crying for mommy I appreciate
more how thoughtful my son is.

After picking up Jacob I took them to Yale park. It was wonderful.
We never played in that park and we were delighted to find out there
are several large playsets and tons of swings. The sun was warm and
the wind breezing, all 3 of us had a wonderful play time. I want to
take the boys for some play time everyday if possible(weather
permiting) to enjoy the BEST time of the year in Texas.

It's almost time to apply for REACH program for Jacob. I told his
teacher to please send me the form and we will see how it turns
out. No matter what the result is I believe my son is gifted and
full of potential becuase he is truly special in my eyes.
