Lo and behold she did have ear infection... worse in right ear and just a little swollen in left ear. Poor baby!!! No wonder the cold won't go away. She is on antibiotics now... and this time it's only 5 day course.. so hopefully by the time we finish medicine I will have a healthy baby again. She has been sick on and off for a few weeks now!!!

Timothy finished level 4 today !!! (hooked on phonics)
This morning everyone got up super early. Daddy left the house at 6+am to the airport for his 2 day Houston business trip. All 3 kids got up at 7am, so after Jacob got out of the door Timothy wanted to read his level 5 workbook. After finishing level 5 in a month or so, his reading level will be at 2nd grade(8 years old). And he is only 5.5 and not even in Kindergarten yet!!! He sure is a very smart boy. We are all very proud of him!!

Play date with 淑慧&卉昕
We finally get to see 淑慧&卉昕 again after several months. In the morning I had to take Grandma to see a condo for sale so we got delayed a little...
It was very easy to find 淑慧&卉昕's home, and surprisingly, it's not far at all. It only about 15 minutes away. We make ourselves at home immediately.. Timothy started to watch TV(baby signs) and 卉昕 and Acacia looked at each other... and I was very surprised Acacia didn't start crying when I put her down on the floor. She likes 卉昕 too!
We had some yummy dumplings at 淑慧's place...we figured it would be easier to eat at home first with all 3 kids in a relaxed enrironment. 卉昕's daddy came home to pick up lunch and we got to chat a little bit, this time he seemed to be more talkative :D
淑慧 said 卉昕's daddy is a very hands-on daddy, he baths 卉昕 everyday and spends time playing with 卉昕. And he is willing to spend money on 卉昕's stuff, like good carseats... 卉昕 is one lucky little girl
淑慧 also gave us gifts... I almost felt bad because I had gifts to take away when I visited them!! I LOVE the hair clips she gave Acacia, it makes Acacia looks VERY girly. We got lots of compliments already! Thank you 淑慧!!! Also I like the soy paste 淑慧 gave us, it's very yummy... I am addicted to it... I will have to bring some bottles back from Taiwan!!
We then decided to go to Galleria mall since we still had about 2 hours before I had to pick up Jacob. 淑慧 said she goes there quite often.. and Timothy loves their playground. It was Acacia's 1st time "playing" in that playground. I could tell she was very excited. I sat her next to the ladybug and she even pulled herself up to stand!!
Time went by so fast, it was about time I had to pick up Jacob, so we said goodbye to 淑慧 and 卉昕... 卉昕 even waves bye to us, how cute!!! I can't believe how much 卉昕 has grown. She is now walking all over the place, she can almost run !!! She is a very friendly little girl, she is not afraid of strangers. She is surely a cute little girl.
It was fun to have playdates... we had so much to talk about... can't wait for our next date!!

I am an American !!!
3/20/2007 Tuesday
2 days after we got back from our NY trip. I am to be naturalized to become an American citizen today. I don't know how to describe my emotions... I've been living in this beautiful country for almost 16 years, and almost over half of my life so far. I've never felt like a stranger on this land. It's always been my home. Although deep in my heart I will always think of Taiwan as my motherland. I am not really super excited, just relieved that this process has finally come to an end and no more tiring appointments to meet.
We left the house early at about 7:30am because we had to be there by 8:15am. Of course we were late... travelling in the super RUSH hour is not fun at all. Acaica cried and screamed while the car just stopped and went on the highway. (later I found out it was because she pooped.... poor baby, she loves to be clean). We made it finally, the 2 of us. And although we were late, we were not really that late... it was just in time to get in for the ceremony. The officier checked my ID, took away my greencard, and we started the ceremony. The place is Dallas Convention center, ballroom A. There are over 600 people becoming citizens today. Amazing!!
I finally got time to check Acacia's diaper... and what an explosion!! I felt SO sorry for my little girl. No wonder she was crying so hard in the car. I got back to the ballroom, and I decided just to sit on the carpeted floor, not among the 600 people, it was way too crowded and Acacia didn't like being so close to strangers. I felt like I was watching all these people getting naturalized, and I was just a visitor, or a family. But I was in tears watching this video they were showing, and when I heard the black lady sang the national anthen. It is a beautiful country because it's made of different peoples, and all the people of the US love this country. Yeah, I was getting a little emotional sitting on the floor with Acacia.
After the long ceremorny, I finally got my naturalization paper. It bears the same function as a birth certificate of any American. And I appreciated when the officier said "welcome, my fellow Americans".
So on this day, I become an American.

CT -- Time with Betty & Autumn
We finally got to use our rental car The highway is super clean. We got to see how the trucks clean the snow on the road, very cool!! We decided to go to Flusing 1st to get some food and the yummy tri-color cake rolls... it's Saturday so it's packed with people... although there is snow everyone on the sides of the roads, people wanted to come out of the house and do some grocery shopping I guess. We went to buy the cake rolls and some bread, then I saw a big restaurant called "旺角". It's got roast ducks and BBQ meat, just what we were looking for. We bought 1/2 duck and some BBQ meat, then we went to buy the 排骨飯... Philip realized he has the metro cards with money in there, so he called Joyce to see if she was near(she was waiting for her FIL's van to be fixed), and such a coincident, we ended up in the 排骨飯 restaurant !!! Now it's really time to say good bye.
The drive to CT was very smooth, the road condition was perfect, no snow or ice at all. The norther we go, the more snow we see. Its so beautiful, like a perfect white world. The kids took their naps in the ride, and I just enjoyed watching their sleeping faces.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
This was Timothy holding Acacia's hand in the ride... So sweet!!
Finally we reached uncle's house... It's great to see Betty and Autumn again... Autumn is so tall !! She is the sweetest girl I know. The boys had fun playing with the snow with Autumn in the yard. The we went to an elementary nearby to sled... there was 12 inches of snow last night so it was PERFECT to sled. The kids had tons of fun.. and Acacia had fun watching for a few minutes(still have a running nose so we stay in the car).
(This is uncle's yard)
Then we went to meet Aunt then we all went to eat dinner at a restaurant. I was hoping to eat Aunt's homecooking because she cooks so well, but she was too tired from cleaning the snow. We then went back to our hotel to get a nice night of rest. (Residence Inn).
The breakfast was quite nice, hot and delicious.

We love NY ---- DAY 2-8
- Mar 12 Mon 2007 22:32
We love NY ---- <Day 1>
DAY 1
All 3 kids took turns getting sick... First it was Timothy, a few days after we got back from Irving blending meeting, Timothy started having low grade fever... I predicted it... because everytime after the blending meeting kids would get sick. Then it was Acacia, she had a super running nose... and a low grade fever as well. She is still not fully recovered as of today(3/19)... still a little damp nose. Then it was Jacob's turn... RIGHT before our spring break vacation. On Thursday night Jacob started to have fever, so it really bothered daddy and me. We were struggling with the idea of cancelling the whole trip, knowing all 3 kids were sick and the weather in North East is cold. Our plane was going to depart at 6:55 am... and we had to leave the house at 5am. So we said, we would make a final decision by 4am whether to cancel the trip or not. And we almost DID. But the boys woke up very excitedly(with a fever still), saying they were ready for the airplane ride!!! So we thought, oh well, we might as well go and not waste the money on our prepaid rental car... and maybe we would have some fun anyway.
Brother David was very nice to take us to the airport at such an early time. We carried heavy loads of luggages, since we had to have winter/ski clothes. So just imagine how hard it was... dragging 3 sick kids and tons of luggages, waiting to check in, before the sun even rose.
And the VERY VERY annoying experience to pass through security. We had to dump our water bottles, practically take out everything in our pockets, had to undress, took off shoes... having our backpacks checked... you name it.
Finally we got on the plane. Although the kids were sick they were all very good during the flight. We had a smooth and nice trip. Acacia did amazingly well. She wasn't fussy at all and slept during the 2nd half of the flight.
We dicided to head directly to NY to stay with my good-old-friend Joyce. Several reasons, the most important one being the kids' sickness.. we wanted to let them recover before we do any snow skiing. So we took the rental car and poor tired daddy had to drive to NY while we snoozed in the car. He said he also napped a few times while driving... YIKES!! And the poor navagation system... took us on a very scenic route that took a lot longer than it's supposed to be. HAHA. Well, I finally woke up before we entered NY and provided some help with the map and directions.
FINALLY, finally, we got to Joyce's house... I was a little nervous. It's been 5+ years since we saw one another. I felt like I was going on a blind date :D But what a relief to see dear Joyce. I felt right at home. And we saw uncle Jeff. So all this time we all padded on some pounds. haha. So we started our wonderful week at NY.
